WELCOME!

 

We are excited to welcome and introduce to you the new editor of Confluence: Steven Burr. Dr. Burr brings a wealth of experience to the journal and to the AGLSP. During his twenty years in publishing and editorial production he has managed and edited work for the American Heart Association, the American Psychological Association, Routledge/Taylor & Francis, Greenwood, and Wadsworth, among others. He currently serves as Director of Program Operations and Affiliate Instructor in the Graduate Liberal Studies program at Loyola University Maryland. His recent book, Finite Transcendence: Existential Exile and the Myth of Home (Lexington Books, 2014), examines the human engagement, aesthetically and existentially, with the finitude and limits that define human existence. Steven has an MLS degree from Loyola University and He completed his doctoral work in Liberal Studies at Georgetown University, where he also developed and taught courses until 2012. We thank our previous Editor Gary Swaim and Damien Ydoyaga for their excellent work on transitioning Confluence to an online format. We are happy that both will continue to work with Confluence as the transition continues.

Confluence is a national, interdisciplinary journal published by the Association of Graduate Liberal Studies Programs that reflects the best scholarly and creative work of graduate liberal studies programs. Its broad scope will include scholarly essays and creative work such as short stories, poetry, creative nonfiction, and visual art. Contributors will be all those affiliated with such programs—students, alumni, faculty, and others. From this exchange of ideas and art, the association hopes to generate intellectual discussion, foster an understanding of the range of its multidisciplinary activities, and stimulate research and creative endeavors among its readers.

Confluence is a Members Only Journal

Confluence is an open access journal; however, membership in AGLSP is required for submission and publication in the journal. Students enrolled in academic institutions with a current AGLSP membership are eligible for publication. Alumni of institutions with a current AGLSP membership are also eligible up to one year post graduation. Alternatively, student and individual members of AGLSP are also eligible to submit.
